Play that un-funky music white boy

Not satisfied with The Decembrists’ latest stuff? I don’t know about you, but sometimes I find myself wincing the night away trying to find some color to hold on to in The Shins’ albums. The New Yorker’s Sasha Frere-Jones suggests that “indie” “rock”’s current lack of luster may be traceable to political correct-ness. White boys whose roots in the 60’s and 70’s were closer to Africa than many would admit are currently suffering from amnesia of a more mixed up past. An intriguing thesis indeed.
